A Moment With: Mari Agory

April 30, 2019

Mari Agory was nine years old when her family fled their native home of Khartoum, Sudan, seeking asylum in the United States due to the bloody civil war in South Sudan. When she was 20 she was discovered by a fashion photographer, and spent the next decade traveling the world and walking runways for many famous designers. She is the mother to 2 young boys and the founder of MamaTalks NYC, a series of events that bring together like-minded mamas to share knowledge and support with one another.

We were fortunate enough to get to spend a moment with this inspiring mama and learn more about her daily routine.

1. What are 3 things you do in the morning?

-After making sure the kids are settled and feed and I usually make myself some tea to sit down with and check my emails. Doesn’t always go in that order, but I manage to get all three done at least by 10am.

2. What is the best advice you have ever gotten? And what is the best advice you’d like to give?

-It gets “easier”, even though in a lot of ways it does get easier, I also think it gets challenging in other ways, but for me anything is easier than those first couple of weeks after brining baby home from the hospital. The best advice I have for any new moms out there, is to be patient with yourself and with people around you. Acquiring this precious virtue will spare you a lot of heartache ;)

3. What’s your favorite meal of the day? And what are you eating for it?

Hmm, honestly I don’t have one at the moment; I just eat when I can. Most of the time I find myself eating my toddler’s leftovers for breakfast, lunch and dinner!  But if I could have a meal and enjoy it, it would be lunch and it would be something with a lot of carbs and veggies from our garden.

4. Product you cant live without?

I’ve always been unable to live without my skin care products! I’m still going strong with my Brightening Essence. It. Smells. So. Fresh! I also can’t live without my exfoliating shower gloves!

5. What is your favorite thing about YOU?

I am, my favorite thing about me! Ha jk. Hmm this is a hard one, I guess I’m really liking my ambitious spirit lately. I am ready to conquer the world with my upcoming projects, I’ve been feeling really empowered lately!
