Ingredient Spotlight: Burdock Root Extract

Acne. Inflammation. Eczema. Sunburn. These culprits can pop up out of nowhere as we shift into motherhood. Did you know that a single ingredient has been used for centuries to combat all of these issues

You may have walked past a Burdock plant and never even noticed, aside from the small, spiky burrs that got stuck to your clothing. Migrating from Europe and Northern Asia to the United States, Burdock Root has actually been used for hundreds of years in holistic medicine to treat a variety of different conditions. Burdock root is rich in antioxidants and contains nutrients such as iron, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, and zinc. Historically, medical uses were reported for chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

Modernly, it is celebrated for its anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties and its ability to help with skin conditions. This ancient herb has been used in traditional medicine to treat skin conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, and even sunburn, because it promotes the removal of toxins from the skin.

It is also used to help reduce the symptoms of many dry skin conditions as it contains Inulin, a humectant. Humectants draw moisture up through the body to hydrate the upper layers of your skin. Inflammation and acne act as threats to that pregnancy glow. The antiseptic properties of this gift from nature can also help reduce the bacteria that causes acne - that ugly friend we hoped to leave behind in our teen years, but all too often returns to taunt us mamas during pregnancy and the postpartum stage.

The addition of Burdock Root to our Rose Glow Purifying Cleanser means you can rest assured that you can safely achieve your best skin through nature’s most powerful, yet safe ingredients.
