Fall has arrived and with it comes drier air and a need to add extra hydration to achieve your healthy skin goals, especially if you're prone to eczema or other dry skin conditions.
It also means that it's the perfect time to add some fall "beauty" foods to your diet as you work on your natural glow.
1. Carrots – high in beta carotene, they help to repair skin tissue and keep skin healthy and vibrant. One cup of carrot juice on its own or added to your smoothie will give you about 22 mg of beta-carotene, as well as a good dose of vitamin C, which will help to firm and plump the skin.
2. Pumpkin – packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which increase cell turnover and in turn brighten and smooth. The pumpkin flesh also contains antioxidants that boost collagen production for a smoothing effect. As a bonus, pumpkin seeds are especially beneficial for expecting mothers as they contain high amounts of protein, zinc and other vitamins and are also rich in fiber to relieve constipation, which is common during pregnancy.
3. Beets – one of those things that you either really love or really hate (sorry, I hate) but their contribution to great skin cannot be denied thanks to their high does of folate, Vitamin A and Vitamin C, iron, potassium, manganese and fiber. …all of which help with cell turnover. Beets also increase the flow of oxygen through our blood which ultimately means more glow!
What other beauty foods can we add to the list?
