Safe Skincare Ingredient Spotlight: Grapefruit Peel Oil

June 25, 2019

Grapefruit oil is a favorite diffuser add thanks to its wonderful uplifting aromatherapy properties but did you know that it's also good news for your skin?

Extracted from the peel of the fruit, grapefruit peel oil (Citrus paradisi) contains naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) that help promote smoother, younger looking skin by increasing the rate of cell renewal. It also stimulates the lymphatic system to encourage detoxification and purification, while exhibiting astringent and tightening properties that relieve congestion and limit excess sebum (oil).

In addition because of the potent antibacterial and antimicrobial effects it's the perfect ingredient to treat and protect acne-prone skin.

Sounds pretty good, right? That’s not all!

Fights inflammation

Grapefruits boast a significant amount of Vitamin C which helps to fight inflammation that may contribute to frustrating blemishes.  It also calms down redness in the skin and soothes irritation.

This along with powerful antimicrobial benefits make grapefruit peel oil a winner for acne and other inflammatory skin conditions!

Regular use of this oil on your skin will mean clearer, happier skin with a more even skin tone and texture.

Detoxifying for a deep clean

Grapefruit is known for its detoxifying properties and this is one major reason that it makes an appearance in our Purifying Cleanser.

Grapefruit peel oil will sink deep down into the pores to aid in removing built-up dirt and grime for a deep down clean that will never strip your skin of beneficial oils.

It helps to balance sebum in the skin which will help to keep the skin perfectly balanced and the pores clean and open.

Brightens the skin

Vitamin C is just one of the antioxidants in grapefruit peel oil that is excellent for fading hyperpigmentation and promoting a beautiful, radiant glow!

Other antioxidants include Vitamin A to help keep the skin cells healthy and the lipid barrier strong and lycopene, a potent antioxidant usually found in tomatoes that has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Together these antioxidants work to keep the skin bright and healthy and perfectly protected against environmental aggressors.

Try our EWG verified Purifying Cleanser to see how grapefruit peel oil can drastically improve your skin and give it a boost to quickly clear up acne and inflammation.
